Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.
GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.
The thermostat heater is replaced together with the thermostat and should not be removed.
Dismantling
1. Place the vehicle on a lift.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.
COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.
4. Remove the air intake hose.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Hose connecting the air flow sensor to the throttle body.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the thermostat heater.
6. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing.

7. Remove the 4 bolts and the thermostat housing from the coolant pump. Discard the gasket.
Assembly
1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the thermostat housing and the coolant pump.
2. Install a new gasket on the thermostat housing.
3. Install the thermostat housing, screw in and tighten the bolts. Tightening torque 10 Nm.
4. Connect the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing and secure it with a clamp.
5. Connect the electrical connector to the thermostat heater.
6. Reinstall the air intake hose.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Hose connecting the air flow sensor to the throttle body.
7. Connect the negative battery terminal.
8. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.
