Removal

NOTE: This procedure covers the removal and installation of the stub shaft and axle oil seal.

1. Remove the hub assembly.

2. Unscrew the 6 bolts securing the short shaft to the drive axle housing. Remove the mudguard.

3. Remove the short axle shaft and gasket.

4. Remove the axle shaft from the axle housing.

5. Remove and discard the oil seal.

Installation

1. Lubricate the new seal with EP90 oil.

Install the seal with the sealing lip facing out using tool LRT-51-004. The seal should be flush with the rear surface of the short axle shaft.



2. Install the new gasket, short shaft and mudguard. Screw in the bolts and tighten them to 65 Nm.



3. Install the axle shaft into the axle housing. Be careful not to damage the short shaft seal.

4. Install the hub assembly.
