Expansion tank of the cooling system (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1.

Warnings:

• Relieve the pressure in the cooling system by slowly loosening the expansion tank cap a quarter turn. Cover the expansion tank cap with a thick cloth to prevent scalding. Failure to do so may result in injury.
• Never remove the coolant expansion tank cap when the system is hot, as steam or coolant escaping from the cap may cause serious injury, such as scalding.

CAUTION: Coolant can damage paintwork. If coolant is spilled, clean it up immediately and rinse the area with water.

Relieve pressure in the cooling system.

2. Disconnect the coolant hose.

• To minimize coolant loss, clamp the hoses.
• Place a container to collect any spilled liquid.
• Release the clamp.

3. Disconnect the radiator bleed hose. Release the clamp.



4. Remove the expansion tank. Unscrew the bolt.

Installation

1. Install the expansion tank. Tighten the bolt (tightening torque 10 Nm).

2. Attach the radiator bleed hose. Secure the clamp.

3. Connect the coolant hose.

• Secure the clamp.
• Remove the clamps from the hoses.

4. Check the coolant level, top up if necessary. Remove the container.
