General procedures
WARNING: Do not remove the coolant expansion tank cap while the system is hot, as steam or coolant escaping from the cap could cause serious injury such as scalding.
Caveats:
- To prevent corrosion and engine damage from freezing coolant, fill the engine cooling system with the correct grade of antifreeze at the correct concentration. Failure to follow these instructions may result in engine damage.
- The coolant can damage the paintwork. If coolant is spilled, remove it immediately and flush the area with water.
1. Set heater controls to maximum heat.

Remove the expansion tank cap.
3.
WARNING: Do not remove the coolant expansion tank cap while the system is hot, as steam or coolant escaping from the cap could cause serious injury such as scalding.
Loosen the air bleed screw from the cooling system.
4.
WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle standing on only one jack. Always support the vehicle with jack stands.
Raise the car and place stands under it.
5.
WARNING: Be sure to use eye protection.
NOTE: Install a coolant reservoir.
Disconnect the 2 coolant pipes of the fuel cooler heat exchanger. Let the coolant drain.
6.
WARNING: Be sure to use eye protection.
Disconnect the oil cooler thermostat coolant hose. Let the coolant drain.
7. Remove container.
8. Connect the 2 coolant pipes of the fuel cooler heat exchanger.
9. Connect the oil cooler thermostat coolant hose.
10.
Caveats:
- The coolant can damage the paintwork. If coolant is spilled, remove it immediately and flush the area with water.
- The antifreeze concentration should be maintained at 50%.
Fill the expansion tank of the cooling system until the coolant level stops within the range "COLD FILL RANGE" (REFILL RANGE FOR COLD CONDITION).
11. Tighten the air release screw from the cooling system.
12. Establish a cover of a broad tank of system of cooling.
13.
Caveats:
- Make sure the coolant level stays above the low level mark "COLD FILL RANGE".
- Observe the readings of the engine temperature gauge. If the engine starts to overheat, turn it off immediately and let it cool down. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
Start the engine and let it run.
- Maintain the engine speed at 3000 rpm for one minute.
- Let the engine run at idle for 5 minutes.
- Maintain the engine speed at 3000 rpm for one minute.
- Let the engine run until the thermostat opens.
14.
WARNING: Relieve pressure in the cooling system by slowly releasing the expansion tank cap a quarter of a turn. Cover the expansion tank cap with a thick cloth to prevent scalding. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.
NOTE: After bleeding the cooling system and before screwing on the cap of the expansion tank, add coolant to it so that its level is 30 mm above the upper mark.
Turn off the engine.
- Unscrew the cap of the expansion tank, wait until the coolant level in the tank stabilizes and add coolant so that its level is 30 mm above the upper mark.
- Let the engine cool down.
15. If the car gets coolant, wipe it off.
16. Check the coolant level, top up if necessary.
