Removing
1.
ATTENTION: Do not turn on the ignition if the parking brake has been set to the installation position.
Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, set the parking brake to the installation position.
2. Isolate the parking brake circuit. Remove the battery from the electrical junction box (BJB) fuse number 8.

WARNING: Do not work on or under the vehicle if it is only supported by a jack. Always place secure supports under the vehicle.
Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the canister of the evaporative emission system. For more information, refer to Evaporative Control System Carbon Filter (17.15.13)
5. Remove the rear wheels with tires.
6. Release the parking brake pad adjuster. Loosen the screws.

CAUTION: Do not let the caliper hang on the brake hose.
NOTE: Left side shown, right side similar.
Reposition the right rear brake caliper.
- Turn out 2 bolts.
- Using a suitable clamp, secure the brake caliper.
8. Remove the right rear brake disc. Remove the screw.

CAUTION: Do not let the caliper hang on the brake hose.
Reposition the left rear brake caliper.
- Turn out 2 bolts.
- Using a suitable clamp, secure the brake caliper.
10. Remove the left rear brake disc.

NOTE: Right side shown, left side similar.
Disconnect both parking brake cables from the foot/wheels.
- Loosen the nut completely.
- Disconnect the parking brake cable from the lower arm.
- Disconnect the parking brake inner cable from the brake shoe.
12. Disconnect the left parking brake cable.
- Turn out 2 bolts.
- Release the 3 wire harness clamps.
- Release the cable from the clamp on the chassis.
13. Disconnect the left parking brake cable.

CAUTION: The fuel tank breather line bracket can be easily damaged when it is removed from the chassis.
Release the fuel tank breather line bracket. Remove the plastic insert.
15. Disconnect the right parking brake cable.
- Turn out 2 bolts.
- Release the parking brake cable from the 2 pipe clamps.
- Release the parking brake cable from the clip on the chassis.
16. Disconnect the right parking brake cable.
17. Remove the fuel tank heat shield. Remove 3 bolts and remove 2 nuts.

CAUTION: Check the seal between the parking brake emergency release cable and the body and replace if necessary.
NOTE: Mark the installation position of the seal between the parking brake cable and the body.
Disconnect the parking brake emergency release cable.
19. Remove the parking brake actuator support bracket.
- Release the clamps on the air suspension pipe.
- Loosen 2 nuts.
- Turn out 5 bolts.
- Release the 3 wire harness clamps.

NOTE: Pay attention to the routing of the parking brake cable emergency release cable.
NOTE: Pay attention to how the parking brake cables are routed.
Remove the parking brake actuator and cable assembly. Disconnect the electrical connector.
Installation
1.
NOTE: Pay attention to the routing of the parking brake cable emergency release cable.
NOTE: Pay attention to how the parking brake cables are routed.
Install the parking brake actuator with cable assembly. Connect the electrical connector.
2. Install the parking brake actuator support bracket. Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 22 Nm).
- Tighten nuts (tightening torque 10 Nm).
- Fasten the air suspension pipe.
- Fasten the wiring harness.

CAUTION: Make sure the seal between the parking brake emergency release cable and the body is properly installed.
Attach and secure the parking brake emergency release cable.
4. Install the fuel tank heat shield.
- Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 6 Nm).
- Tighten nuts (tightening torque 3 Nm).
5. Attach and secure the right parking brake cable.
- Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 22 Nm).
- Attach the parking brake cable to the 2 pipe clamps.
- Attach the parking brake cable bushing to the body bracket.
6. Install the fuel tank breather line bracket. Install the plastic insert.
7. Attach and secure the left hand brake cable.
- Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 22 Nm).
- Attach the wiring harness.
- Attach the parking brake cable bushing to the body bracket.

CAUTION: Pull the parking brake cable to make sure the inner parking brake cable is engaged with the parking brake shoe lever.
NOTE: Make sure the brake cable is installed correctly (as shown).
Connect the parking brake cables to the wheel hubs.
- Connect the parking brake cable to the shoe drive lever.
- Connect the parking brake cable to the brake support plate.
- tighten the nut (tightening torque 8 Nm).

CAUTION: Clean the element of dirt and grease.
Install the left rear brake disc. Tighten the screw to 35 Nm.
10. Attach the left rear brake caliper.
- Remove and discard clamp.
- Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 115 Nm).

CAUTION: Clean the element of dirt and grease.
Install the right rear brake disc. Tighten the screw to 35 Nm.
12. Attach the right rear brake caliper.
- Remove and discard clamp.
- Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 115 Nm).
13. Adjust parking brake pads. For more information, refer to Adjusting the Parking Brake Pads and Pads (70.40.11)
14. Install the canister for the evaporative emission system. For more information, refer to Evaporative Control System Carbon Filter (17.15.13)
15. Install wheels with tires. Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm.
16. Install fuse 8 in BJB.
17. Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, calibrate the parking brake actuator on level ground.
