Removal
CAUTION: To avoid unintentional application of the parking brake and possible damage to the actuator, remove fuse link 8 from the engine compartment fuse box before starting work.
NOTE: If the operating time of the parking brake system is less than 50,000 cycles, the parking brake cables can be replaced. If the operating time of the parking brake system exceeds 50,000 cycles, the parking brake cables can only be replaced together with the actuator. The operating time of the parking brake can be checked using T4, (ON/OFF = 1 cycle). If the cable breaks or becomes disconnected while the vehicle is moving, the "parking brake actuator release procedure" may be required using T4.
1. Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, set the parking brake to the 'set position'.
2. Isolate the parking brake circuit. Remove fuse 8 from the BJB.

CAUTION: Do not work on a vehicle supported solely by a jack. Always place reliable supports under the vehicle.
Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the wheels.
5. Release the parking brake shoe adjuster. Loosen the screw.

CAUTION: Do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose.
Reposition the right rear brake caliper.
- Remove two bolts.
- Using a suitable clamp, secure the brake caliper.

7. Remove the right rear brake disc. Remove the screw.

8. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the wheel hub.
- Loosen the nut completely.
- Release the cable from the lower arm.
- Disconnect the inner cable from the brake shoe.

CAUTION: The fuel tank breather line bracket can be easily damaged when separated from the chassis.
Release the fuel tank breather pipe bracket. Remove the plastic insert.

10. Release the right parking brake cable.
- Remove two bolts.
- Release the parking brake cable from the two hose clamps.
- Release the cable from the clamp on the chassis.

11. Release the right parking brake cable.

CAUTION: When replacing the cable, make sure that no dirt or moisture gets in.
Remove the right parking brake cable.
- Loosen the nut.
- Release the cable retaining clip. Release and remove the cable.

Installation
1. Install the right parking brake cable.
- Install the cable.
- Install the cable clamp.
- Tighten the nut.
2. Secure the fuel tank breather pipe bracket. Install the plastic insert.
3. Install and secure the right parking brake cable.
- Tighten the bolts to 22 Nm.
- Secure the parking brake cable to the two hose clamps.
- Secure the cable bushing to the body bracket.

NOTE: Install the brake cable retaining ring as shown.
Connect the parking brake cable to the wheel hub.
- Attach the cable to the brake shoe lever.
- Insert the cable into the brake shield.
- Tighten the nut to 8 Nm.

CAUTION: Clean the element from dirt and grease.
Install the right rear brake disc. Tighten the Torx screw to 35 Nm.
6. Secure the right rear brake caliper.
- Remove and discard the clamp.
- Tighten the bolts to 115 Nm.

NOTE: The adjustment procedure must be completed in its entirety.
Adjust the parking brake shoes. For more information, refer to Adjusting the Parking Brake Shoes and Linings (70.40.11)
8. Install the rear wheels. Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm.
9. Install fuse 8 in BJB.
