Removing
NOTE: If the parking brake pads or brake discs have been removed to gain access to other parts, the break-in procedure DOES NOT need to be performed.
1. Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, set the parking brake to the installation position.
2. Isolate the parking brake circuit. Remove fuse 8 from BJB.

WARNING: Do not work on or under the vehicle if it is only supported by a jack. Always place secure supports under the vehicle.
Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove wheels with tires.
5. Disconnect the brake caliper. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts.

CAUTION: Do not let the caliper hang on the brake hose.
Take the caliper aside and tie.
7. Release the parking brake pad adjuster.
- Remove the plug from the technological hole in the brake disc.
- Using a suitable tool, turn the brake pad adjuster to release the adjuster.
8. Remove the brake disc. Remove the Torx screw.
9. Remove the regulator and return spring. Loosen the parking brake shoe adjuster to the minimum position.
10. Remove the primary brake pad.
- Remove spring retainer and pin.
- Rotate the shoe to disengage it from the adjusting plate and return spring.
11. Remove the adjusting plate and spring.
12. Remove return spring.
13. Remove the secondary brake pad.
- Remove spring retainer and pin.
- Disconnect the parking brake cable retaining spring from the shoe drive lever.
- Release the parking brake cable.
14. Repeat the above procedure on the other side.
Installation
1.
CAUTION: Do not use compressed air to clean brake parts. Dust from friction materials is harmful when it enters the lungs.
Clean the skid plate and apply grease to the surfaces in contact with the brake pads.
2. Clean the regulator and set the minimum length of the regulator.

CAUTION: Do not stretch the brake shoe spring too much.
CAUTION: Make sure the closed end of the clip is towards the parking brake shoe adjuster. Failure to do so may result in vehicle damage.
ATTENTION: Picture 'A' shows the left side and picture 'B' shows the right side.
Install the secondary brake pad.
- Connect the parking brake cable.
- Connect the parking brake cable retaining spring to the shoe drive lever, being careful not to twist it.
- Install the spring retainer and pin.
4. Install the adjusting plate and spring. Tie the adjusting plate spring with a tie.

CAUTION: Make sure the return spring and adjusting spring are properly installed on the primary shoe.
CAUTION: Do not stretch the brake shoe spring too much.
CAUTION: Make sure the closed end of the clip is towards the parking brake shoe adjuster. Failure to do so may result in vehicle damage.
ATTENTION: Picture 'A' shows the left side and picture 'B' shows the right side.
Install the primary brake pad.
- Install the return spring.
- Connect the first brake shoe to the return spring.
- Position the first brake shoe on the adjusting plate. Install the spring retainer and pin.
6.
CAUTION: Do not stretch the brake shoe spring too much.
Install the brake shoe adjuster and retainer spring.
7. Remove and discard the adjustment plate spring clamp.
8. Make sure the contact surfaces of the brake disc and wheel hub are clean.
9. Install the brake disc. Tighten the Torx screw to 35 Nm.
10. Install the brake caliper. Tighten the bolts to 115 Nm.
11. Repeat the above procedure on the other side.
12. Adjust the parking brake. For more information, refer to Adjusting the Parking Brake Pads and Pads (70.40.11)
13. Install wheels with tires. Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm.
14. Install fuse 8 in BJB.
