NOTE: This procedure must be performed if new parking brake pads, new rear brake discs have been installed, or if the vehicle has been driven in deep mud (not in water) over 50 miles.
1. Perform the parking brake pad lapping procedure.
2.
NOTE: Electronic parking brake mode called 'Service Lapping Mode' ('Service Bedding-in Procedure mode') will remain on until the end of the current ignition cycle or until vehicle speed exceeds 31 mph (50 km/h). If you need to call the procedure again, repeat all the steps required to enable it.
To enable 'Service Lapping Mode':
- Start the engine and let it run.
- Within 10 seconds, depress and release the foot brake pedal 3 times, leaving it depressed after the third depression.
- Within 10 seconds, engage and deactivate the electronic parking brake switch 4 times and 3 times.
3. After turning on the 'Service lapping mode', you can start lapping the pads of the electronic parking brake. To do this, you need to perform 10 consecutive braking at a speed of 30-35 km / h (19-22 mph) at intervals of 500 m (547 yards) between stops to cool the brakes. Braking is carried out using the electronic parking brake switch.
- The braking force of the electronic parking brake will increase to dynamic maximum as long as the switch is held in the on position.
- Releasing the switch to the NEUTRAL or OFF position will release the electronic parking brake.
- The electronic parking brake MUST be allowed to cool between applications. To do this, it is enough to drive without braking at a speed of 19 miles / h (30 km/h) 500 meters (547 yards) or stop for 1 minute between switching on.
