NOTE: This procedure is performed if new parking brake shoes, new rear brake discs have been installed, or if the vehicle has been driven in deep mud (not water) for more than 80 km.
1. Perform the parking brake shoe break-in procedure.
2. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to the procedure: Adjusting the Parking Brake Cable (206-05 Parking Brake and Parking Brake Actuator, General Procedures).
3. Perform the parking brake shoe break-in procedure.
4. Using a dynamometer: Tighten the parking brake lever for about 40 seconds, the braking force reading should be 800 Nm.
5. Perform the parking brake shoe break-in procedure.
6. During road test: While driving at approximately 40 km/h, apply the parking brake lever until you feel the braking force. Tighten the parking brake lever one notch more and drive 400 m.
WARNING: If possible, all road tests should be performed on a level, dry road surface. Always obey speed limits and local traffic laws.
