No - GO to A2.
A2: Check the parking brake pads for wear
Inspect the rear parking brake shoes for excessive wear. Are the parking brake shoes OK?
Да - GO to A3.
No - INSTALL new parking brake shoes. For more information, refer to: Parking Brake Shoes (206-05 Parking Brake and Parking Brake Actuator, Removal and Installation). Check that the system operates correctly.
A3: Check the parking brake cables for damage
Inspect the parking brake components, cables, and cable housings for damage, rust, or chafing. Are the parking brake components, cables, and cable housings normal?
Да - CHECK for other causes of the malfunction, including the tightness of the parking brake lever or system components.
No - REPAIR or, if necessary, INSTALL new components, cables and cable housings. B1: Checking the parking brake cable lever
NOTE: Before checking, make sure the parking brake shoes are adjusted correctly.
- Raise and secure the vehicle with the parking brake fully applied. For more information, refer to: Raising the Vehicle (100-02 Jacking and Raising the Vehicle on a Lift, Description and Operation).
- Release the parking brake by pulling up on the lever and pressing the lock button.

B2: Checking the parking brake cables
Loosen the parking brake cable. Turn the wheels by hand. Do the rear wheels turn freely?
