Checking and restoring the working fluid level

1. Place the vehicle on a lift.

2. Apply the parking brake and place chocks under the front and rear wheels.

3. Connect the TestBook/T4 diagnostic tool to measure the working fluid temperature.

CAUTION: The fluid level can only be checked when the fluid temperature is between 35° and 45°. If the temperature is outside the specified range, the level readings will be incorrect.

4. Start the engine and move the selector lever from position "P" to other positions, holding in each position for 2-3 seconds. Return the selector lever to position "P".

5. Clean the area around the filler/inspection plug.

5. Clean the area around the filler/inspection plug.

6. With the engine running, remove the filler/inspection plug and allow excess fluid to drain.

CAUTION: Use caution when draining hydraulic fluid, which may be very hot.

7. If the working fluid does not flow out of the filler hole, without stopping the engine, add the recommended working fluid to the box until a weak stream flows out of the filler hole.

CAUTION: Avoid prolonged contact of the skin of your hands with mineral working fluid. Mineral working fluid washes away the natural oils from the skin, which leads to dry skin, irritation and dermatitis.

8. Again move the selector lever from position "P" to each subsequent position and, returning to position "P", drain the excess working fluid.

9. Install a new filler/inspection plug and tighten it to 20 Nm.

10. Disconnect the TestBook/T4 diagnostic tool.
