Window lifter

The front window lift system includes an electric motor in each of the front doors and 2 rocker switches mounted on the center console. The window lift system only operates when the ignition switch is in position II (on) and has an anti-trap function.

Rear window lift system (if it is installed) includes a handle and a manually operated window regulator on each rear door.

Heated windshield and rear window

The heated windshield contains a single heating element, the duration of which, after it is switched on, the power supply to which does not exceed 8 minutes. This system is operational only when the engine is running.

The rear window also contains a single heating element and the window heating only operates when the ignition switch is in position II (ignition on). The duration of rear window heating is not limited in any way.

Operating principles

Window lifter

The window lift relay coil is energized by the ignition system power supply from the central fuse block (CJB). When connected to the power supply, the relay supplies battery voltage to the window lift switches - left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH).

Each window lift switch has 2 connections to the corresponding electric motor: supply and return. These lines are switched on by the switch depending on the required direction of the working stroke. In each case, the electric motor is connected to the ground circuit via its switch.

Each electric motor has a thermal protection function. If the glass reaches the upper or lower limit position or meets resistance from any object, the thermal protection function senses the increase in load on the electric motor and stops the supply of electricity to the brushes of the electric motor. The response time of the thermal protection is 3.5 - 5 s, and the re-start time is between 1 and 10 s.

Heated windshield

The heated windshield is controlled by the heated windshield unit. The heated windshield unit is located behind the instrument cluster and receives an engine running signal from the engine control module (ECM). The heated windshield unit also monitors the position of the heated windshield switch. When this switch is in the pressed position, a ground loop is created. If both of these signals are present, the heated windshield unit will supply power to the heated windshield element until
  • the switch will not be pressed again,
  • it won't take 8 minutes
  • or the engine will not stop.

Rear window heating

The heated rear window switch is located in the centre console and receives ignition system power via the CJB central fuse box. When the switch is in the depressed position, the heated rear window relay coil is energised. The energised heated rear window relay supplies battery power via the CJB central fuse box to the heated rear window element.
