Power window
The front power window system includes an electric motor in each of the front doors and 2 rocker switches mounted on the center console. The power window system only works when the ignition switch is in position II (included) and has an anti-trap function.
Rear power window system (if it is installed) Includes handle and manually operated window adjuster on each rear door.
Heated windscreen and rear window
The heated windshield contains a single heating element, the duration of the power supply to which after it is turned on does not exceed 8 minutes. This system is only functional when the engine is running.
The rear window also contains a single heating element and the glass heating only works when the ignition switch is in position II (ignition on). The duration of the heated rear window is not limited in any way.
Work principles
Power window
The power window relay coil is energized by energizing the ignition system from the central fuse box (CJB). A relay connected to the power supply provides battery voltage to the power window switches - LHD (LH) and right-sided (RH).
Each power window switch has 2 connections to the respective motor: supply and return. These lines are activated by a switch depending on the desired direction of travel. In each case, the electric motor is connected to the ground loop by means of its switch.
Each motor has a thermal protection function. If the glass reaches the upper or lower limit position or encounters resistance from an object, the thermal protection function senses the increased load on the motor and cuts off the electrical power to the motor brushes. The response time of thermal protection is 3.5 - 5 s, and the reclosing time is in the range from 1 to 10 s.
Heated windshield
The heated windscreen is controlled by the heated windshield. The heated windshield is located behind the instrument panel and receives a running engine signal from the engine control unit (ECM). The heated windshield module also controls the position of the heated windshield switch. If this switch is in the depressed position, a ground loop is created. If both of these signals are present, the heated windscreen unit will supply power to the windshield heating element until
- the switch will not be pressed again,
- 8 minutes won't pass
- or the engine will not stop.
Rear window heating
The heated rear window switch is located on the center console and receives power from the ignition system via the CJB central fuse box. When the switch is pressed, the heated rear window relay coil is energized. The energized rear window defogger relay supplies voltage from the battery through the CJB central fuse box to the rear window defogger.
