Front A-pillar body side panel (Range Rover 3)

This procedure replaces the A-pillar outer panel.

NOTE: The A-pillar side panel is supplied assembled with the A-pillar reinforcement panel. Therefore, the reinforcement panel must be separated from the A-pillar side panel before installing it.

Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Disconnect the generator.

3. Remove the outer wheel arch panel.

4. Remove the battery tray if necessary.

ENGINE STARTING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Platform - battery.


5. If necessary, remove the brake booster.

BRAKE SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Pneumatic booster assembly.


6. Remove the air intake box.

HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Air intake box.


7. Remove the lower windshield trim.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Lower trim - windshield.


8. Remove the front seat.

SEATS, REPAIR WORK, Front seat.


9. Remove the front window/curtain airbag.

RESTRAINT SYSTEMS FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGERS, REPAIR WORK, Airbag module (front curtain airbag).


10. Remove the front and rear door seals.

11. Remove the front door limiter.

12. Remove the threshold trim.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Front bumper extension - spoiler.


13. Remove the front floor carpet.

14. Separate the wiring harness from the front pillar and move it to the side.

15. Remove the interior light.

16. Loosen and remove the control panel insulating pads.

Repair works


1. Before removing the A-pillar panel, read the following warning.

CAUTION: When cutting the upper section of the A-pillar, do not cut through the reinforcement panel as there is a drain tube behind it. The approximate location of the drain tube is shown in the picture.


NOTE: Arrows "A" and "B" show the approximate location of the drain tube retainers.


2. Remove damaged panels, prepare joint edges and install new panels in accordance with the Body…


2. Remove damaged panels, prepare joint edges and install new panels in accordance with the Body Panel Repair Rules. Punch or drill holes in the panel to be installed for the plug weld, as shown in the figure.

Assembly


1. Replace the control panel insulating gaskets.

2. Place the front carpet back in place.

3. Install the interior light.

4. Place and secure the wiring harness on the A-pillar.

5. Install the front door limiter.

6. Install the threshold trim.

7. Install the front and rear door seals.

8. Install the front window/curtain airbag.

9. Replace the front seat.

10. Replace the battery tray.

11. Install the brake booster.

12. Install the air intake box in place.

13. Install the lower windshield trim.

14. Install the outer wheel arch panel.

REPAIR WORK, Outer panel of the wheel arch.


15. Connect the generator.

16. Connect the negative battery terminal.
