Dismantling


1. Raise the car on a lift.

2. Remove the exhaust system.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: Td6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Exhaust system and suspension of system components.


3. Remove the 8 nuts securing the center heat shield and remove the shield.

6. Remove the 6 nuts and bolts securing the propeller shaft to the final drive flange.

7. Unscrew the two nuts securing the intermediate support of the cardan shaft, lower the cardan…


7. Unscrew the two nuts securing the intermediate support of the cardan shaft, lower the cardan shaft, separate the flange from the main gear, then temporarily install the intermediate support and secure it with nuts.

8. Remove and discard the lock washer.


8. Remove and discard the lock washer.

9. Apply mounting marks to the tailpiece nut and tailpiece for subsequent assembly.

10. Using the LRT-51-003 tool, secure the tailstock flange and loosen the tailstock nut.

11. Place a container to collect any leaking oil.

12. Using a two-lever puller, remove the tailstock flange.

13. Carefully remove and discard the seal, being careful not to damage the seal groove.

Assembly


1. Wipe the groove under the seal.

2. Using the LRT-12-179 tool with the LRT-51-019 adapter, install the new seal.

3. Wipe the tailstock flange.

4. Install the tailstock flange, hold the flange with the LRT-51-003 fixture and tighten the tailstock nut until the mounting marks align.

CAUTION: Do not tighten the nut more than necessary to align the mounting marks.


5. Install a new lock washer.

6. Wipe the mating surfaces of the cardan shaft flanges and the final drive tailpiece.

7. Remove the nuts securing the intermediate support of the cardan shaft, attach the cardan shaft to the flange of the final drive tailpiece and install the intermediate support in place. Tighten the nuts securing the intermediate support, but do not tighten them completely at this stage.



8. Tighten the nuts securing the propeller shaft to the final drive tail flange and tighten them to a torque of 70 Nm.

9. Tighten the nuts securing the intermediate support of the propeller shaft to a torque of 21 N·m.

10. Install the fuel tank heat shield and tighten its mounting screws.

11. Install the central heat shield and tighten its mounting nuts.

12. Reinstall the exhaust system.

13. Add oil to the final drive housing to the required level.

MAIN TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL, ADJUSTMENTS, Rear main transmission and differential housing - oil drain and filling.
