Hood Latch Release Handle (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1.

NOTE: Replacing the hood release cable.

Open the hood.

2. Remove the 8 screws securing the grille.

3. Remove the grill.

4. Loosen the hood release cable mounting clamp bolt.

5. Disconnect the cable from the lock.

6. Release the cable from the clip on the underside of the hood support panel.

7. Pass the cable through the front panel and remove the sealing grommet.

8. Release the cable from the clamp attached to the wheel arch under the expansion tank.

9. Loosen the clamp nut securing the hood release handle to the support bracket.

10. Remove the hood release handle from the support bracket.

11. Remove the cable through the bulkhead.

Installation

1. Pass the cable through the bulkhead and install the hood release handle on the support bracket. Tighten the clamp nut.

2. Pass the cable behind the expansion tank and secure it in the clamp.

3. Pass the cable through the front panel.

4. Install the sealing grommet between the cable and the front panel.

5. Secure the cable to the clip on the underside of the hood support panel.



6. Connect the cable to the lock and tighten the clamp bolt.

7. Check the operation of the hood release cable and lock and adjust if necessary.

8. Install the grille and tighten the screws.

9. Close the hood.
