Hood latch (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1. Open the hood.

2. Mark the position of the guide plate and lock relative to the hood support panel.

3. Remove the 8 screws securing the grille.

4. Remove the grill.

5. Unscrew the 2 bolts securing the guide plate and lock.

6. Remove the guide plate.

7. Release the spring securing the lock to the hood support panel.

8. Loosen the hood release cable mounting clamp bolt.

9. Remove the lock.

Installation

1. Install the spring between the lock and the hood support panel.

2. Install the lock and guide plate onto the hood support panel and tighten the bolts.

3. Install the guide plate and lock according to the marks and tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft·lbs).

4. Connect the cable to the lock and tighten the bolt.

5. Check the operation of the release cable and adjust if necessary.

6. Install the grille and tighten the screws.

7. Close the hood.
