Rear door interior handle (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1. Remove the door trim panel.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Rear Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).

2. In place, remove the plastic sheet to gain access to the door opening handle.

3. Remove the spring clip and disconnect the drive rod from the button.

4. Release the spring clip and disconnect the short locking button drive rod from the latch mechanism.

5. Disconnect the long drive rod from the latch mechanism.



6. Remove the two screws securing the door handle to the support panel.

7. Release the drive rods from the plastic clips located in the support panel.

8. Remove the handle and rods from the door.

Installation

1. Install the plastic mounting clips onto the tie rod assembly and secure with two screws.

2. Connect the drive rods to the latch mechanism and secure with clamps.

3. Install the plastic tie rod mounting clips onto the support panel.

4. Connect the drive rod to the locking button and secure with a clamp.

5. Reseal the plastic sheet and install the door trim panel.
