Rear door latch (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1. Remove the door trim panel.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Rear Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior trim, Removal and installation).

2. Bend back the plastic sheet in place to gain access to the door latch.

3. Disconnect the door handle drive rod from the latch assembly.

4. Disconnect the outer door handle drive rod from the latch assembly.

5. Disconnect the door lock button drive rod from the latch mechanism.

6. Remove the 3 mounting screws and detach the latch assembly from the door.

Installation

1. Install the latch assembly into the door and secure it with 3 screws, remembering that the top screw is longer.

2. Connect the door opening handles to the latch mechanism by following instructions 3, 4 and 5 in reverse order.

3. Reseal the plastic sheet and install the door trim panel.
