Removal


1. Remove the rear wheels.

2. Clean the outside of the calipers.

3. Remove the brake shoe mounting pins and pressure springs.

4. Remove the brake pads and adjusting shims.

5. Clean the exposed parts of the pistons with fresh brake fluid.

6. Wipe off excess liquid with a lint-free cloth.

7. Using the LRT-70-500 piston clamp, press each piston back into its cylinder. Make sure that the displaced brake fluid does not escape from the reservoir.

Installation


1. Install the brake pads and shims. Ensure that the shims are installed correctly, see Fig.

NOTE: On vehicles from model year 02MY onwards, the rear brake pads have chamfers on the primary and secondary edges (based on the direction of rotation of the brake disc). Adjusting shims are also installed.




2. Install the pressure springs and secure them with the brake shoe mounting pins.

3. Press the brake pedal several times until the brake pads are in a stable position.

4. Install the wheels, remove the supports from under the chassis and the jack. Tighten the wheel nuts to 130 Nm.

5. Check the brake fluid reservoir and add the appropriate brake fluid if necessary.
