Primary shaft seal — removal and installation (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

WARNING: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.

Raise the vehicle and place supports underneath it.

3. Drain the transmission fluid from the gearbox.

4. Remove the clutch slave cylinder.

5. Install the special tool on the seal.



6. Using special tools, remove and discard the input shaft seal.

Installation

1. Using the special tools, install a new input shaft seal.



2. Install the clutch slave cylinder.

3. Fill the gearbox with oil.
