On vehicles equipped with xenon headlights, the front and rear height sensors, which are located on the right side of the vehicle, are different from those installed on vehicles with standard headlights. The sensors installed on vehicles with xenon headlights can be identified by a white stripe located on the rear side of the sensor housing. These sensors can also be installed on vehicles without xenon headlights. The sensors installed on vehicles with standard headlights cannot be installed on the version with xenon headlights.
Dismantling
1. Raise the rear of the vehicle.
CAUTION: Do not work under a vehicle supported solely by a jack or lift. Always support the vehicle with safety stands.
2. Remove the wheel.
3. Unscrew the nut and bolt securing the body height sensor rod to the lower suspension arm.
4. Disconnect the multi-pin electrical connector.
5. Using a 4mm Allen head, remove the two screws securing the height sensor to the mounting bracket and remove the sensor.
Assembly
1. Clean any dirt from the mating surfaces of the sensor and mounting bracket.
2. Align the body height sensor with the mounting bracket, install the Allen screws and tighten them to 5 N·m (3.7 lb ft).
CAUTION: Make sure the sensor lever is facing outward.
3. Position the height sensor link to the lower arm and tighten the nut and bolt to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).
4. Connect the multi-pin electrical connector to the vehicle height sensor.
CAUTION: Make sure the O-ring is properly seated on the multi-pin connector.
5. Reinstall the wheel and tighten the nuts to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).
6. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
7. If a new sensor is installed, adjust the air suspension system using the TestBook/T4 diagnostic tool.
