Removal


1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Disconnecting and connecting the battery (414-01 Battery, Battery Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

2.
WARNING: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.


Raise the vehicle and place supports underneath it.

3. Remove the transfer case.

For more information, refer to the chapter: Transfer Case (308-07A Transfer Case - ID4 2.4L Diesel Engine, Removal).

4. Remove the gearbox console housing. Unscrew 10 bolts.

5. Remove the gear shift fork nut.

6. Using the special tool, remove the gear shift fork. Unscrew the stud.

Installation


1. Using the special tool, install the gear shift shaft oil seal.

2. Install the gear shift fork. Tighten (tightening torque 12 Nm).

3. Install the transmission console housing. Tighten (tightening torque 25 Nm).

4. Install the transfer case.

5. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
