Front seat backrest upholstery (with adjustable backrest section) (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling


1. Remove the seat assembly.

SEATS, REPAIR WORK, Front seat.


2. Release the 3 seat back panel tensioner straps under the seat.

3. Remove the 2 screws securing the lower decorative trim of the backrest.


3. Remove the 2 screws securing the lower decorative trim of the backrest.

4. Release the lower cover from the 6 fasteners and remove it.

5. Disconnect the 2 tension cords from the upper part of the seat back upholstery.


5. Disconnect the 2 tension cords from the upper part of the seat back upholstery.



6. Release the Velcro tape securing the backrest upholstery.

7. Remove the trim from the backrest upholstery trim.


7. Remove the trim from the backrest upholstery trim.

8. Release the cover from the 4 fasteners and remove it.

9. Carefully remove the 2 fasteners securing the headrest to the electric motor housing.


9. Carefully remove the 2 fasteners securing the headrest to the electric motor housing.

10. Remove the headrest.

11. Release the strap securing the seat back upholstery to the lower frame.


11. Release the strap securing the seat back upholstery to the lower frame.



12. Disconnect the connectors from the headrest adjustment motors and the upper backrest cushion.


12. Disconnect the connectors from the headrest adjustment motors and the upper backrest cushion.

13. Disconnect the lumbar support cable connector from the pump and valve.


13. Disconnect the lumbar support cable connector from the pump and valve.

14. Disconnect the connector block from the seat heater cable.


14. Disconnect the connector block from the seat heater cable.

15. Release the 2 straps securing both sides of the lower seat back trim to the frame.



16. Release the wiring harness from the 4 clamps.

17. Remove the 2 Torx screws securing the backrest frame to the seat frame.

18. Remove the backrest assembly from the seat frame.

19. Release the 4 straps securing both sides of the backrest assembly to the frame.


19. Release the 4 straps securing both sides of the backrest assembly to the frame.

20. Remove the backrest upholstery and cushion from the seat back frame.

21. Release the 19 rings securing the upholstery to the cushion and remove the upholstery.


21. Release the 19 rings securing the upholstery to the cushion and remove the upholstery.

22. Remove the plate securing the headrest trim to the backrest upholstery and remove the trim.


22. Remove the plate securing the headrest trim to the backrest upholstery and remove the trim.



Assembly


1. Install the headrest cover onto the backrest upholstery and secure with the retaining plate.

2. Place the upholstery on the cushion and secure it with rings.

3. Install the backrest upholstery and cushion onto the seatback frame.

4. Fasten the 4 straps securing both sides of the backrest upholstery to the frame.

5. Install the backrest assembly onto the seat.

6. Align the backrest frame with the seat frame, install the Torx screws and tighten them to 25 Nm.

7. Secure the backrest cables to the clips.

8. Install the fixing straps to the sides of the lower part of the backrest upholstery.

9. Connect the connector to the seat heater connector.

10. Connect the lumbar support cable connectors to the pump and valve.

11. Connect the cable connectors to the headrest and upper backrest adjustment motor connectors.

12. Fasten the strap securing the lower part of the backrest upholstery to the frame.

13. Install the headrest and attach it to the motor housing.

14. Install the top cover and secure it with the clips.

15. Attach the backrest upholstery trim to the overlay.

16. Fasten the Velcro to the backrest upholstery.

17. Attach the tension cords to the upper part of the backrest upholstery.

18. Install the bottom cover and secure it with the clips.

19. Tighten the screws securing the lower backrest trim.

20. Attach the backrest panel tension straps to the fasteners at the bottom of the seat.

21. Install the seat in the vehicle.
