Secondary Air Injection (SAI) Valve (Range Rover 3)

The steps described below should also be followed when replacing the vacuum-controlled valve gasket.

Before disconnecting the battery, carefully read the "Disconnecting the Battery" section and follow all instructions therein.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Removal

1. Place the car on a lift.

2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

3. Remove the air hose between the air flow meter and the throttle body.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: V8 engine, REPAIR WORK, Hose connecting the air flow sensor to the throttle body.

4. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.

COOLING SYSTEM: V8 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Draining coolant, flushing the system and filling.

5. Loosen the clamp, disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing and unscrew the P-shaped clamp mounting bolt.

6. Disconnect the vacuum and air lines from the SAI vacuum operated valve fittings.

7. Remove the 2 nuts, vacuum controlled valve and discard the old valve gasket.

Installation

1. Clean the mating surfaces of the pipes and the vacuum-operated valve.

2. Install a new seal into the vacuum-operated valve seat.

3. Replace the vacuum controlled valve. Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

4. Connect the vacuum and air lines to the SAI system valve.

5. Place the lower radiator hose onto the thermostat housing fitting and secure with a clamp.

6. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
