Front brake pads (Defender 2007+)

Removal

1. Remove the front wheels.

2. Clean the outside of the calipers.

3. Remove the cotter pin from the mounting pins.

4. Remove the brake shoe mounting pins and springs.

5. Remove the brake pads.



6. Clean the exposed parts of the pistons with new brake fluid. Wipe off any residue with a lint-free cloth.



7. Using the LRT-70-500 piston clamp, press each piston into its bore. Make sure that the displaced brake fluid does not leak out of the reservoir.

Installation

1. Install the brake pads.

NOTE: Make sure the brake pads are installed correctly. The illustration shows how the leading edge chamfer should be installed.

2. Install the brake shoe mounting pins and springs. Secure with new cotter pins.





3. Press the brake pedal several times to engage the pads.

4. Install the wheels, remove the chassis support and jack. Tighten the wheel nuts (tightening torque 130 Nm).

5. Check the brake fluid reservoir. If necessary, add the correct fluid.
