Removal
All cars
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: Ensure that the vehicle is supported securely.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
3. Remove the windshield wiper motor and linkage. Refer to procedure: Windshield Wiper Motor (501-16 Windshield Wipers and Washers, Removal and Installation).
4. Remove the driver lower air bag module. Refer to procedure: Driver Lower Air Bag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
Left-hand drive vehicles


All cars

CAUTION: Plug all openings.

Cars with manual transmission

Prepare to collect spilled liquid. Plug all openings.

Right hand drive vehicles

Prepare to collect spilled liquid. Plug all openings.

Installation
All cars
1. Install the brake master cylinder. Tightening torque: 26 Nm
CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.
2. Install the brake booster. Tightening torque: 22 Nm
CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.
3. Install the brake pipes. Tightening torque: 15 Nm
CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.
Cars with manual transmission
4. Connect the clutch release line.
CAUTION: Clean mating surfaces of any foreign material.
All cars
5. Connect the brake booster vacuum line.
6. Connect the electrical connector of the low brake fluid level indicator light switch sensor.
Left-hand drive vehicles
7. Install the ECM bracket. Tightening torque: 10 Nm
8. Install the ECM.
All cars
9. Install the driver lower airbag module. Refer to procedure: Driver Lower Airbag Module (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, Removal and Installation).
10. Install the windshield wiper motor and linkage. Refer to procedure: Windshield Wiper Motor (501-16 Windshield Wipers and Washers, Removal and Installation).
11. Connect the ground cable to the battery. Refer to Procedure: Specifications (414-00 Charging System - General Information, Specifications).
12. Bleed the brake system. Refer to procedure: Bleeding the Brake System (206-00 Brake System - General Information, General Procedures).

13. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to procedure: Bleeding the Clutch System (308-00 Manual/Transaxle Transaxle and Clutch - General Information, General Procedures).
