Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (Range Rover 3)

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure that all requirements and conditions contained in the section on disconnecting the battery are met.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Draining the coolant, flushing the system and filling.


3. Remove the intake manifold gaskets.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: Td6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Intake manifold gaskets.


4. Disconnect the connector from the coolant temperature sensor.


4. Disconnect the connector from the coolant temperature sensor.

5. Using a long socket, carefully remove the coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and discard the gasket.

Assembly


1. Wipe the mating surfaces of the sensor (ECT) and cylinder head.

2. Place a new sealing washer on the coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, screw it in and tighten it to 15 N·m (11 ft·lbs).

3. Connect the connector to the coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.

4. Install the intake manifold gaskets.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST SYSTEM: Td6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Intake manifold gaskets.




5. Connect the negative battery terminal.

6. Fill the cooling system with coolant.

COOLING SYSTEM: Td6, ADJUSTMENTS AND MAINTENANCE, Draining the coolant, flushing the system and filling.


7. If a new sensor has been installed, reconfigure the control system using the TestBook/T4 device.
