Location of elements

The starter with a power of 2.0 kW is made according to the traditional scheme with a coaxial arrangement of the motor shaft and the drive gear and the top location of the traction relay. Type of starter - electric motor of sequential excitation and constant engagement of the rotor, with overrunning clutch and built-in traction relay solenoid. The front of the starter has a labyrinth to control water supply, seal and drain. The solenoid is hermetically sealed to prevent water ingress and damage to the crankshaft due to moisture.
Power is supplied to the starter traction relay at the command of the engine control unit (ECM), when the ignition key is turned to the position to start the engine. Upon receiving a request to start the engine, the ECM checks the correctness of the ignition key code and only then gives permission to crank the crankshaft. Power is supplied to the starter via the power rail directly from the positive battery post. The other end of the wire is connected to the copper threaded stud of the traction relay and secured with a nut.
The starter motor is located at the rear left of the cylinder block and protrudes into a groove in the flywheel housing flange to allow it to engage with the ring gear. The electric motor is attached to the cylinder block with two bolts.
