Protective cover for CV joint rear inner (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Remove the rear drive shaft.

DRIVE SHAFTS, REPAIR WORK, Drive shaft - rear.

2. Place the drive shaft in a vice.

3. Remove and discard the dust cover from the drive shaft.

4. Remove and discard both clamps securing the protective cover.

5. Slide the protective cover along the shaft to gain access to the joint.

6. Remove excess grease from the drive shaft.

7. Remove and discard the drive shaft retaining ring.

8. Apply alignment marks to the drive shaft and joint for subsequent assembly.

9. While supporting the constant velocity joint, use the LRT-12-076 tool to remove the joint from the drive shaft.

10. Remove and discard the snap ring holding the joint to the drive shaft.

11. Remove the protective cover from the shaft.

Assembly

1. Wipe the drive shaft and constant velocity joint.

2. Place the protective cover on the shaft.

3. Install the new joint retaining ring onto the drive shaft.

4. Install the joint on the drive shaft so that the mounting marks on the shaft and joint match.

5. Install a new snap ring onto the end of the drive shaft.

6. Lubricate the hinge with grease from the tube.

7. Place the protective cover over the joint and secure it to the joint and shaft with new clamps.

8. Install the new dust boot onto the drive shaft.

9. Install the rear drive shaft.
