Assembling the gear selector lever and cable (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling


1. Set the selector lever to position "P".

2. Remove the center console.

CAR INTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Center console.


3. Remove the retainer securing the outer gear shift cable to the gear selector mechanism.


3. Remove the retainer securing the outer gear shift cable to the gear selector mechanism.

4. Loosen and remove the retainer securing the inner gear shift cable to the selector mechanism, remove the plastic spacers from the cable.

5. Raise the car on a lift.

6. Remove the retainer securing the selector cable to the gearbox bracket.


6. Remove the retainer securing the selector cable to the gearbox bracket.

7. Loosen the cable locking device nut and release the cable.

8. Lower the lift.

9. Remove the cable with the guide bushing through the floor panel under the carpet.

Assembly


1. Pull the cable through the floor panel, install the guide bushing and carpet.



2. Raise the car on a lift.

3. Pass the cable through the gearbox bracket, insert it into the locking device, install the locking device and tighten the nut to a torque of 15 N·m.

4. Lower the lift.

5. Pull the cable to the selector mechanism, install the spacer sleeve, and secure the cable with clamps.

6. Reinstall the center console.
