Wheel hub bearing (Range Rover 3)

Dismantling

1. Remove the hub assembly.

FRONT SUSPENSION, REPAIR WORK, Hub.

2. Unscrew the 3 bolts securing the brake disc protective cover.



3. Using bolts, secure the LRT-60-033/3 pins to the brake caliper.

4. Install the LRT-60-033/5 tool on the hub flange.



5. Install the LRT-60-033/2 plate onto the pins. Install the LRT-60-033/4 pin over the steering knuckle, securing it to the plate.

NOTE: Pins must be positioned in the holes marked 'FRONT'

6. Screw the LRT-60-033/1 screw into the plate and press the flange out of the hub.

NOTE: This will leave the outer bearing race on the flange.

7. Remove the LRT-60-033/2 plate and the LRT-60-033/4 pin.



8. Remove and discard the retaining ring.

9. Install the LRT-60-033/6 tool on the bearing and remove it using the method described above.

10. Remove the LRT-60-033/3 pins.



11. Using a bearing puller, remove the bearing race from the hub flange.

Assembly

1. Clean the hub and its flange from dirt.



2. To use the hydraulic press, install the LRT-60-033/10 support and place the hub on it.

3. Clean and dry the mating surfaces of the hub and bearing.

4. Lubricate the bearing mounting hole in the hub with STC 50553 sealant to half its length.

5. Press the bearing into the hub using the LRT-60-033/12 tool.



6. Install a new retaining ring.

7. Install the LRT-60-033/11 bearing stop on the support and press the flange into the bearing using the LRT-60-033/12 tool.

8. Dismantle the tool.

9. Clean the protective cover and its mating surface. Align the cover and tighten its mounting bolts.

10. Reinstall the hub assembly.
