Before disconnecting the battery, carefully read the "Disconnecting the Battery" section and follow all instructions therein.

GENERAL INFORMATION, Precautions when working with electrical equipment.

Removal


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

2. Remove the air duct.

HEATING AND VENTILATION, REPAIR WORKS, Air intake box.


3. Remove the clamp securing the wire harness to the dipstick tube.


3. Remove the clamp securing the wire harness to the dipstick tube.

4. Disconnect the fuel line clamp from the dipstick tube.

5. Remove the dipstick.

6. Loosen the oil dipstick tube mounting bolt.

7. Remove the dipstick tube and discard the sealing ring.

8. Unclip the positive wire clamp from the intake manifold.

9. Remove the 2 Torx bolts and starter to access the electrical connectors.


9. Remove the 2 Torx bolts and starter to access the electrical connectors.



10. Loosen the nut and disconnect the battery cable from the starter.


10. Loosen the nut and disconnect the battery cable from the starter.

11. Unscrew the 2 nuts and disconnect the remaining wires from the starter.

12. Remove the starter.

Installation


1. Clean the starter and mating surfaces from dirt. Clean the guide pin and the pin hole.

2. Position the starter next to the mounting location, connect the wires and tighten the nuts to 6 Nm.

3. Connect the battery cable to the starter and tighten the nut to 15 N·m.

4. Install the starter and tighten the Torx bolts to 47 N·m.

5. Install the positive cable clamp to the intake manifold.

6. Clean the dipstick tube and the hole in the oil pan.

7. Install the sealing ring onto the dipstick tube, install the tube and tighten the bolt to 6 N·m.

8. Install the dipstick.

9. Install the fuel line clamp onto the dipstick tube.

10. Secure the wire harness to the dipstick tube.

11. Reinstall the air duct.

12. Connect the ground cable of the battery.
