Dismantling
1. Place the car on a lift and select a low gear in the transfer case (Low Range).
2. Turn off the ignition.
3. Set the automatic transmission selector to neutral, make sure that there is no fuse in slot 37 of the main fuse box. If a fuse is installed, remove it.
4. Raise the car on a lift.
5. Clean the place of disassembly from dirt.
6. Install a container to collect the escaping working fluid.
7. Turning the block counterclockwise, release it and remove it from the connector of the gear ratio control actuator.
8. Remove the three screws securing the actuator to the transfer case.
9. Do not move the drive screw, which should remain in the transfer case. Very carefully and slowly separate the gear ratio control drive assembly from the transfer case. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to prevent the drive screw from moving with the drive assembly as shown in the illustration. CAUTION: If the drive screw turns or is removed with the drive, damage to the transfer case mechanism may occur.
10. Remove and discard O-ring.
11. Remove the bearing if it can be freely removed.
Assembly
1. Make sure the transfer case is in downshift by fully pushing the selector shaft into the transfer case.
CAUTION: If the drive screw turns or is removed with the drive, damage to the transfer case mechanism may occur.
2. Clean the bearing and mating surface.
3. Lubricate the bearings and install it so that its protrusions are directed towards the transfer case, as shown in the figure.
4. Clean the drive housing and transfer case mating surface.
5. Install a new o-ring and, having achieved the coincidence of the splines, align the drive assembly with the transfer case. NOTE: The drive screw has a spline.
6. Install the screws securing the drive to the transfer case and tighten them with a torque of 28 Nm.
7. Attach the pads to the drive connectors and secure them.
8. Lower the lift.
9. To calibrate a new transfer case ratio control drive, follow the steps below.
10. Install one of the spare fuses in slot 37 of the main fuse box.
11. With the automatic transmission selector in neutral, turn on the ignition.
12. Turn off the ignition.
13. Remove the fuse from socket 37.
14. Turn on the ignition.
15. Using the switch, shift from up to downshift in the transfer case and up again.
16. Perform at least three shifts of the transfer case, from up to down and back to up, on a vehicle moving at a speed above 10 km / h.
