Review
The 2.4L diesel engine is a 4-cylinder block with direct injection, 4 valves per cylinder and 2 overhead camshafts. The toxicity of the exhaust gases of the engine meets the requirements of European environmental standards ECD4; to limit the emission of harmful substances in the engine, a catalytic converter, an electronic engine management system, a forced crankcase ventilation system and an exhaust gas recirculation system are used (EGR). The engine is liquid-cooled and turbocharged. A distinctive feature of the fuel injection system is the use of common rail technology.
Cylinder block made of compacted gray cast iron; a lightweight, compact and very strong step cast aluminum alloy plate is bolted to the bottom of the cylinder block to increase its rigidity. The cylinder head is cast aluminum and fitted with a molded plastic camshaft cover. The non-separable oil pan is made of stamped steel. The exhaust manifold is made of cast iron and has a flange for connecting a turbocharger. To reduce the noise level from the engine, a noise-insulating plastic cover is installed on top of it.
