WARNING: Do not smoke or walk with a lit cigarette or open flame of any type while working on or near fuel related items. In such situations, there are always highly flammable mixtures that can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.
CAUTION: When carrying out subsequent work, care must be taken in handling fuel. Always be aware of the possibility of fuel splashing and observe fuel safety precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.
WARNING: Do not carry or use a cell phone while working on or near any fuel related items. In such situations, there are always highly flammable mixtures that can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.
WARNING: If fuel gets in your eyes, rinse them with cold water or eyewash solution and seek immediate medical attention.
WARNING: If fuel is swallowed, do not induce vomiting and seek immediate medical attention. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.
WARNING: Wash hands thoroughly after handling fuel as prolonged skin contact with fuel may cause irritation. If irritation occurs, seek medical attention.
CAUTION: Some fuel will inevitably spill during this operation. Take all necessary measures to prevent fire and explosion.
WARNING: Diesel fuel injection equipment is manufactured to very precise tolerances and with very close clearances. Therefore, when working with these elements, it is especially important to observe absolute cleanliness. Open holes or lines should always be plugged with appropriate plugs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in dirt entering the fuel injection system.
CAUTION: Make sure that the workshop area where the vehicle is being worked on is clean and free from dust. Dirt and dust from working on the clutch, brakes, or from machining or welding operations can contaminate the fuel system and cause performance problems.
1.
WARNING: It is forbidden to carry out work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Be sure to place secure supports under the vehicle.
Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the gearbox lower protection. Turn out 6 bolts.
3.
CAUTION: Use caution when working near hot exhaust system components.
Remove the fuel filter heat shield. Turn out three bolts.
4. Drain the condensate from the fuel filter element.
- Connect a suitable drain tube to the condensate drain port.
- Loosen the drain port screw two full turns and allow the condensate to drain into a container.
- Switch the ignition to position 2 and keep it in this position until 100 ml of fluid has flowed out, then switch to position O.
- Remove the drain tube.
5. Tighten the screw on the condensate drain port.
6. Install the fuel filter heat shield. Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm.
7. Establish the bottom protection of a transmission. Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm.
