Removal


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2.
CAUTION: Do not smoke or allow lighted cigarettes or open flames of any type when working on or near fuel related items. There is a risk of ignition of flammable vapors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.


CAUTION: Do not carry or use a cellular telephone while working on or near any fuel related component. There is a risk of ignition of flammable vapors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or disassembling parts, ensure that the area around the mating surfaces and connections is free of contamination. To avoid contamination of the system, close all open connections.


Remove the fuel rail. For more information, refer to Fuel Rail (19.60.04)

3. Remove the fuel injector.
  • Release the nozzle.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Remove the O-ring and discard it.
Remove the O-ring and discard it.


Installation


1. Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.

2. Install the components in place in the reverse order. Lubricate the new sealing ring with clean engine oil.
