Electrically foldable mirror function (Freelander 2)

Mirrors with the power/automatic folding function have an additional electric motor located in the hinge of each outside rearview mirror bracket. The operation of the folding function of the outside rearview mirrors is controlled by the switch block. The operation of the automatic folding function of the outside rearview mirrors is controlled by the remote control.

The automatic folding function is active when the ignition is set to 6 (ignition).

Both outside rearview mirrors will be folded in when the "L" and "R" switches on the switch cluster are pressed simultaneously. Pressing the switches again will unfold the mirrors.

If the instrument cluster is configured for the automatic folding function, the mirrors will be folded when the lock button on the remote control is pressed. The mirrors will be unfolded when the vehicle is unlocked using the unlock button on the remote control.

NOTE: If the mirrors are folded using the switch cluster and the vehicle is locked, subsequent unlocking of the vehicle will not cause the mirrors to unfold.

When the unlock button on the remote control is pressed, the CJB recognises the remote control for that vehicle and acknowledges the request. The door control modules are connected directly to the AJB to supply power to the fold motors for the door mirrors.

When the vehicle is locked, to operate the mirrors in the opposite direction, the door control modules reverse the polarity of the outside mirror folding motors, switching the connections to battery + and ground.
