The door mirrors are controlled by a switch block located on the driver's door. The switch block includes 2 non-locking mirror selector switches marked "L" and "R" and a 4-position joystick. The switch block is connected to the driver's door control module via the LIN bus. The driver's and front passenger's door control modules are connected via the medium-speed CAN data bus. A wire connection from each door control module to the corresponding mirror provides power and grounding for the mirror drive motors.

Each outside rearview mirror has two electric motors for horizontal (left/right) and vertical (up/down) adjustment.

On vehicles with a power driver's seat with memory and outside rearview mirrors with memory, each mirror motor has a potentiometer built into it that is used to provide information about the current motor position. The current position and stored positions of each door mirror motor are stored in the corresponding door control module.

The stored positions of the outside rearview mirrors are also monitored and stored in the door control module memory when the mirror tilt function is used when reverse gear is selected.



When reverse gear is selected, the door control modules store the current mirror positions in memory and then tilt the driver and passenger door mirrors to the standard tilt position. When reverse gear is selected, a preferred mirror tilt position can be stored in memory by setting the driver/passenger mirror to the desired position using the switch cluster. When the desired position is set using the switches, the new tilt positions will be automatically stored in the door control modules' memory after shifting from reverse gear to another gear. Therefore, when reverse gear is selected again, the door control module will recall the new mirror tilt position from memory. When shifting from reverse gear to another gear, the mirror will automatically move to the position stored before reverse gear was selected.

The mirror tilt function when reverse gear is selected is only available if mirrors with a memory function are installed and the mirror tilt function when reverse gear is selected is activated in the instrument cluster.

If the driver selects the function to recall the settings from memory using the switch block, the driver's seat and the outside rearview mirrors with the memory function will move to the position stored in the memory.
