CAUTION: Diagnostics by substituting an element from another vehicle is NOT permitted. Substituting control units does not guarantee confirmation of the fault and, in addition, may cause additional faults in the vehicle being tested and/or in the vehicle from which the modules are removed.
1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.
Mechanical elements
- Condition of tires, tire pressure, etc.
- Transmission, engine, gearbox, suspension, components (correct installation, damage, etc.)
Electrical elements
- Fuses and fuses
- Wiring harnesses and electrical connectors
- Terrain Response System Block
- Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Transmission Control Module (TCM)
- Anti-lock brake system control unit
- Active control unit
- Dynamic Suspension Control Unit * CAN Network Circuits
2. Before performing any further checks, REPAIR all obvious causes of problems found during the visual inspection.
3. If the cause is not visually obvious, check for DTCs and refer to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index.
