Front panel assembly (Freelander 1)

When performing this operation, the side panels of the crossmember are replaced together with the front panel assembly.

Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Disconnect the generator.

3. Disconnect all electronic units.

4. Remove the front bumper.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Front bumper assembly - for cars up to model year 2004.


5. Remove the front bumper beam.

6. Remove the radiator.

COOLING SYSTEM: MOD. K, KV6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Radiator assembly.


7. Remove the power steering fluid cooler.

STEERING, Steering gear, Power steering fluid cooler (for models with Td4 or K1.8 engine).


8. Remove the left and right headlights.

LIGHTING, Headlight Assembly - Models Before 2004 Model Year, Headlight Assembly - Models Before 2004 Model Year.


9. Release the headlight wire harnesses and move them to the side.

10. Remove the left and right engine compartment mudguards.

11. Remove the left and right bumper reinforcement brackets.

12. Remove the battery.

ENGINE STARTING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Battery.


13. Remove the air duct.

14. Remove the sound signal

SECURITY SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Sound signal.


15. Remove the windshield washer reservoir.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHERS, REPAIR WORK, Reservoir - washer.

16. Remove the hood lock.

17. Secure the hood in the raised position.

18. Remove the hood pillar.

1. Remove damaged panels, prepare joint edges and install new panels in accordance with the Body Panel Repair Rules. Punch or drill holes in the panel to be installed for the plug weld, as shown in the figure.



Assembly


1. Install the hood support.

2. Install the hood lock.

3. Install the windshield washer reservoir.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WASHERS, REPAIR WORK, Reservoir - washer.


4. Set the sound signal.

SECURITY SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Sound signal.


5. Install the air duct.

6. Install the battery. Do not connect the negative terminal of the battery.

ENGINE STARTING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Battery.


7. Install the left and right bumper reinforcement brackets.

8. Install the left and right engine compartment mud flaps.

9. Install the left and right headlights.

LIGHTING, Headlamp Assembly - Pre-2004 Models, Headlamp Assembly - Pre-2004 Models. Secure the headlamp wiring harnesses.


10. Install the power steering fluid cooler.

STEERING, Steering gear, Power steering fluid cooler (for models with Td4 or K1.8 engine).


11. Install the radiator.

COOLING SYSTEM: MOD. K, KV6 engine, REPAIR WORK, Radiator assembly.


12. Install the front bumper beam.

13. Reinstall the front bumper.

EXTERIOR PARTS, REPAIR WORK, Front bumper assembly - for cars up to model year 2004.


14. Connect all electronic units.

15. Connect the generator.

16. Connect the negative battery terminal.
