Location
The vehicle identification number (VIN) is stamped on a metal plate located in the driver's door opening.
The VIN number is also located:
- On the plate located in the driver's door opening.
- On a plate located behind the lower left corner of the windshield.
- On the engine compartment bulkhead in front of the windshield.
The VIN plate contains the following information:
- a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- b Permitted maximum weight of the vehicle
- c Permitted maximum mass of a vehicle with a trailer
- d Permitted maximum front axle load
- e Permitted maximum load on the rear axle
- f Body color code
- g Car interior trim code

| 1 | Gearbox and steering. The unit designates models equipped with an automatic transmission and right-hand control arrangement |
| 1 | The model year of the vehicle. One corresponds to the 2001 model year. Two corresponds to the 2002 model year. Three corresponds to the 2003 model year |
| A | The name of the plant where the car was produced. The letter A stands for the plant in Solihull (UK) |
| Six digits | indicate the serial number |
Interior and Exterior Color Codes
Body color code (F): Stamped on the VIN identification plate. Consists of three digits and contains information about the original body color.
Finish code (G): Interior Trim Code (G): Stamped on the VIN plate. Contains information about the original interior trim type and color.
