Sensors: Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the engine soundproofing cover.

ENGINE - Td4, Inlet and outlet camshafts, Engine soundproofing casing, models produced before May 2002.

3. Disconnect the connector from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

4. Remove the Allen screw that secures the CMP sensor to the valve cover.

5. Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor and discard the sealing washer.

Installation

1. Wipe the camshaft position (CMP) sensor and mating surfaces.

2. Install a new seal on the sensor (CMP), install the sensor on the valve cover and tighten the mounting screw. Tightening torque 8 Nm.

3. Connect the connector to the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

4. Reinstall the engine soundproofing cover.

5. Connect the negative battery terminal.
