Alignment of the lifting luggage compartment door (Freelander 2)

1. With the liftgate closed, check the fit of the liftgate to the roof panel and body quarter panel. The liftgate should be centered in the opening. Refer to procedure: Body and Frame (501-26 Body Repairs - Special Vehicle Information and Tolerance Checks, Description and Operation).



2. Remove the D-pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: D-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).

3. Release the rear roof trim.



4. Loosen, but do not completely remove, the bolts holding the tailgate hinge.



5. Position the trunk door in the center of the opening.



6. Tighten the tailgate hinge bolts. Tightening torque: 24 Nm

7. Check the operation of the liftgate and adjust the liftgate striker if necessary. Refer to the procedure: Adjusting the Latch Strike (501-14 Handles, Locks, Latches, and Entry Systems, General Procedures).

8. Install the rear roof trim.

9. Install the D-pillar trim panels. Refer to procedure: D-Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation).
