Alignment of the lifting luggage compartment door (Discovery 3)

1. With the tailgate closed, check the alignment of the tailgate with the roof panel. The tailgate should be positioned in the center of the opening. The tailgate should be recessed 2 mm beyond the edge of the roof panel.



2. Remove the rear roof trim panel.

• Release 7 clamps.
• Disconnect the electrical connector.

3. Loosen, but do not completely remove, both bolts holding the tailgate hinge to the body.

4. Position the trunk door in the center of the opening.

5. Remove the left bolt holding the trunk door to the body.

CAUTION: When installing the tailgate, make sure that the tailgate hinge DOES NOT move and is held in place by the mounting bolt.

NOTE: To raise the tailgate, turn the Allen key clockwise.

Using a 13 mm Allen key, adjust the position of the left tailgate hinge so that the tailgate is recessed 2 mm beyond the edge of the roof panel.

• Screw in and tighten the bolt. (tightening torque 40 Nm).

7. Repeat the above procedure for the right tailgate hinge.

8. Check the operation of the tailgate and, if necessary, adjust the tailgate and rear lid locks.

9. Install the rear roof trim panel.

• Connect the electrical connector.
• Secure with clamps.
