Lift-up luggage compartment door (Discovery 3)

Removal


1. Open the rear door and the tailgate.

2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

3. Remove the upper tailgate trim panel. Release the 4 clips.

3. Remove the upper tailgate trim panel. Release the 4 clips.


4. Remove the tailgate side trim panel.
  • Release 5 clamps.
  • Repeat the above procedure on the other side.
Repeat the above procedure on the other side.


5. Remove the rear roof trim panel.
  • Release 7 clamps.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector.
Disconnect the electrical connector.


6. Disconnect the windshield washer hose. Release the sealing bushing.



7. Release the tailgate wiring harness.
  • Disconnect 2 electrical connectors.
  • Release the sealing sleeve.
Release the sealing sleeve.


8. Using assistance, remove the tailgate assembly.
  • Release the clamps and remove the hood struts.
  • Remove 2 bolts.
Remove 2 bolts.


Installation


1. With assistance, install the tailgate assembly.
  • Tighten the bolts (tightening torque 40 Nm).
  • Attach the posts and secure them with clamps.
2. Connect the tailgate wiring harness.
  • Install the sealing bushing.
  • Connect the electrical connectors.
3. Connect the washer nozzle hose. Install the sealing sleeve.

4. Install the tailgate side trim panel.
  • Engage the clamps.
  • Repeat the above procedure on the other side.
5. Remove the upper tailgate trim panel. Engage the clips.

6. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

7. Check and adjust the position of the tailgate relative to the roof panel. For more information, refer to Alignment of the lifting luggage compartment door (76.28.31)
