Inspection and verification (Freelander 2)

WARNING: Diagnostics using the substitution method from a donor vehicle is PROHIBITED. Substitution of control units does not guarantee confirmation of the fault and, in addition, may cause additional faults in the vehicle being checked and/or in the vehicle from which the units are removed.

NOTE: Before starting diagnostic programs using fault location tests, check and correct basic faults.

1. Perform a visual inspection for obvious mechanical or electrical damage.

Check for non-standard accessories that may interfere with the operation of the seat belt system Wear or damage to the tape The stop button is damaged or missing. Pretensioner Locks/Switches	Fuses Malfunction in the wiring harness Correctness of electrical connectors connection Loose or corroded connectors Control lamp(s) Impact sensor(s) Seat belt buckle sensor(s) Pretensioner(s) Passive safety system control unit

2. If an obvious cause for the problem you identified or the customer described is found, correct it (if possible) before moving on to further action.

3. If the cause is not visually obvious, perform the tests below or check for diagnostic trouble codes and refer to the appropriate DTC index.
