To avoid accidental activation, the backup power supply must be de-energized before any work on the SRS system or its components. Failure to do so may result in injury.
Do not use a multimeter to test the SRS module. Applying voltage from the multimeter battery may cause the module to operate. Failure to do so may result in injury.
NOTE: When working on the SRS system or its components, do not use or keep a cellular phone near them.
Power supply de-energization
Before working on the SRS system or its components:
1. Remove the ignition key.
2. Disconnect the battery cables by first disconnecting the ground cable.
3. Wait 2 minutes for the system power circuit to discharge.
