To avoid accidental operation, before starting any work on the SRS system or its components, it is necessary to de-energize the backup power system. Failure to do so may result in injury.
Do not use a multimeter to test the SRS module. Applying voltage from the multimeter's battery may cause the module to trip. Failure to do so may result in injury.
NOTE: When working on the SRS system and its components, do not use or keep a cellular phone near them.
De-energizing the power supply
Before working on the SRS system or its components:
1. Remove the ignition key.
2. Disconnect the battery wires by first disconnecting the ground wire.
3. Wait 2 minutes for the system power circuit to discharge.
Refer to the relevant section of the repair manual for detailed instructions on how to repair the SRS system.
