NOTE: This procedure involves removing and installing both rear seatbacks and the left rear seatback assembly upholstery and padding. To avoid damaging the rear seatbacks, it is important to follow all notes and precautions carefully.
Removal

3. Release the bushing of the outer hinge pin of the right rear seat back.

4. Using a screwdriver, release the outer pivot pin bushing lock lever.

- Release the right rear seatback outer pivot pin bushing from the support bracket.
- Disconnect the right rear seat back from the left rear seat back.
CAUTION: The left rear seatback inner pivot pin has circumferential grooves. When removing the right seatback from the left, be careful not to damage the right seatback inner pivot bushing.

6. Remove and discard the outer hinge pin bushing of the right rear seat back.

- Remove the armrest if present.
- Remove and discard the armrest pivot bushing spring clips.

- Slide the armrest up.
- Slide the armrest outward.

- Remove the armrest support plate.
- Remove and discard the 4 tree clips.

10. Install the seat belt webbing holder.
CAUTION: Make sure that the seat belt retainer is installed at least 200 mm from the seat belt stopper in the direction of the rear center seat belt pretensioner.

11. Unscrew the nut of the lower fastening element of the rear central seat belt.

14. Release the bushing of the outer hinge pin of the left rear seat back.

15. Using a screwdriver, release the outer pivot pin bushing locking lever.

- Release the left rear seatback outer pivot pin bushing from the support bracket.
- Carefully slide the left rear seatback inner pivot pin out of the center pivot bushing.
CAUTION: The left rear seatback inner pivot pin has circumferential grooves. Be careful not to damage the center pivot bushing.

17. Remove and discard the outer hinge pin bushing of the left rear seat back.

19. Remove the center seat belt trim panel.

20. Remove the rear seatback locking button trim panel.

- Using a screwdriver, press down on the locking tab.
- Pull the tubular guide upward.
- Remove and discard the tubular headrest guides.
CAUTION: Before removing, press the headrest guide tube locking element all the way in.

22. Disconnect the rear seat back trim from the seat back frame.

23. Remove the rear seat back trim and padding assembly from the rear seat back locking button.

24. Release the rear center seat belt and the lower belt anchor from the seatback upholstery.

25. Remove the upholstery and padding from the rear seat back.

26. Remove the carpet from the back of the left rear seat.

- Remove the rear center seat belt retractor Torx bolt.
- Release the locking element.

Installation
1. Install the rear center seat belt tensioner.
2. Place the rear center seat belt buckle into the left rear seatback frame.
3. Tighten the rear center seat belt tensioner Torx bolt. Tightening torque: 35 Nm
4. Place the mat on the back of the left rear seat.
5. Route the rear center seat belt and lower belt anchor through the seatback upholstery.
6. Install the rear seat back upholstery and padding.
7. Secure the rear seatback trim and padding assembly near the rear seatback locking button.
8. Attach the rear seatback cover to the rear seatback frame.
9. Install the new headrest guide tubes.
10. Install the rear seatback locking button trim panel.
11. Install the center seat belt trim panel.
12. Install the headrests.
13. Install the new left rear seat back outer pivot pin bushing. Tightening torque: 35 Nm

- Install the left rear seatback inner pivot pin into the center pivot bushing.
- Carefully lower the left rear seatback outer pivot pin bushing into the support bracket.
If there is excessive wear or damage, the center pivot bushing must be replaced.
The left rear seat back inner pivot pin has annular grooves. Be careful not to damage the center pivot bushing.
15. Install a new bolt into the outer pivot pin bushing lock lever. Tightening torque: 23 Nm
16. Install the removable left rear side trim panel.
17. Secure the lower rear center seat belt anchorage. Tightening torque: 40 Nm
WARNING: Make sure the seat belt anchor is installed correctly.
18. Remove the seat belt webbing holder.
CAUTION: Check that the rear center seat belt tensioner is operating correctly.
19. When installing with an armrest, install new armrest pivot bushing spring clips.
WARNING: New armrest pivot bushing spring clips must be installed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.

20. Install 4 new fir tree clips into the armrest support plate.
21. Install the armrest support plate.
22. Install the armrest.
NOTE: Make sure the armrest pivot bushing spring clips are in the armrest pivot bushing grooves.

23. Install the new right rear seat back outer pivot pin bushing. Tightening torque: 35 Nm

24. Install the service pad into the inner hinge bushing of the right rear seatback.
CAUTION: If a used right rear seatback is being installed, the inner hinge bushing must be checked and a service pad installed. If excessive damage to the inner hinge bushing is found, the right rear seatback frame must be replaced.
NOTE: This step is not required if installing a new right rear seatback.

- Carefully position the right rear seatback inner hinge bushing onto the left rear seatback inner hinge pin.
- Carefully lower the right rear seatback outer pivot pin bushing into the support bracket.
CAUTION: The left rear seatback inner hinge pin has circumferential grooves. When installing the right seatback, be careful not to damage the inner hinge bushing.
26. Install a new bolt into the outer pivot pin bushing lock lever. Tightening torque: 23 Nm
27. Install the removable trim panel of the right rear side of the passenger compartment.
