Pinpoint Test A: Brake Booster Operation

A1: Checking the brake pedal travel with the engine off

• Turn off the ignition.
• Press the brake pedal 10 times and hold it down at the end.

Does the pedal travel decrease and the pedal move heavily after you press it?

Да - GO to A2.
No - MAKE SURE that vacuum is supplied to the brake booster. Start the engine and let it run for three minutes, turn off the ignition, then repeat the test. If the pedal travel does not decrease, suspect the brake booster.

A2: Checking the brake pedal travel with the engine running

While still holding the brake pedal down, start the engine. Does the pedal travel increase after the engine starts?

Да - The brake booster is working properly. Check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) indicating any other malfunction in the system.
No - MAKE SURE that vacuum is supplied to the brake booster.
