CAUTION: Diagnostics by substituting a component from another vehicle is NOT permitted. Substituting control modules does not guarantee confirmation of the fault and, in addition, may cause additional faults in the vehicle being tested and/or in the vehicle from which the modules are removed.
NOTE: Before performing any check or inspection, check the vehicle to see if the appropriate warning lights are illuminated. If the light is illuminated, check for DTCs and refer to the appropriate DTC Index. If the light is not illuminated, continue with the diagnostic procedures as described below.
1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of damage and system integrity.
| Mechanical factors | Electrical factors |
2. If an obvious cause for the problem you identified or the customer described is found, correct it (if possible) before moving on to further action.
3. If the cause is not visually obvious, check the ABS module and steering wheel angle sensor for DTCs and refer to the appropriate Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index.
